《SPOT-Taipei》 Film House
SPOT-Taipei Film House, Operate by
Taiwan Film and Culture Society, is officially opened
on November 10th, 2002. " SPOT-Taipei Film House"
is formerly the residency of the U.S. Anmbassador, now
a historical landmark after the restoration sponsored
by the TSMC Education & Culture Foundation. SPOT
is now managed by the internationally acclaimed director
Hou Hsiao-hsien and his staff, aimed to establish a
film oriented complex, to serve as an interactive window
of cross-culture exchange for the creative industry.
Spot not only provides the finest movie with more culture
diversity, but also creates a channel for filmmakers
and the movie lover to exchange ideas, and to generate
various possible thinking through the conference and
the workshop.
A multi-functional building was composed: Spot Cinema-
screening the fine-selected movies from all over the world,
Eslite Bookstore, C25 Coffee Shop, the exhibition gallery,
the multi-media conference room, and the SixthAvenue-
the finest winery lounge.

SPOT cinema hold six screens daily between 12am and
12pm, The films showing here are aimed for fine films
with creative approaches and culture diversity. The
effort is to enhence the indepandent thinking towards
a new viewing experience and vision. Also, artisticly
distinguish from the main-stream Hollywood
films.
Spot will invite experts from different fields to hold
a colloquium with publics to promote the film on screening.
Moreover, it also explore different point of view in
the creative thinking process.
The Exhibition Gallery and the muti-media
coference room can be applied for rent. The rental information
is posted on the website.
The Taiwan Film & Culture Society has continuously
organized all kinds of film oriented culture events
in the Spot. e.g. : Directors highlight-interactive
with the audience, Apprenticeship with the filmmaker
workshop, DV Short film contest, the Taipei film Festival
and the P.O.P.cinema. The movie lovers are able to interact
with directors, and to explore the creative thinking,
Meanwhile, the film maker can also get the feedback
from the audiences' point of view.
A combination of the attraction of the historicl landmark
and the film house, Spot hope to serve as the center
for cross-culture exchange.
