誰是足立正生？他曾擔任若松孝二、大島渚的編劇，60年代活躍於日本前衛電影創作，70年代前往巴勒斯坦，加入重信房子的武裝組織「赤軍」，雖然沒有直接參與襲擊任務，但負責影像紀錄與新聞製作，持續實踐個人革命理念，他也因此被視為「恐怖分子」，從電影跨界恐怖組織，影史罕見。 這部紀錄片《也許是因為美的決心》隨著足立正生的絮語獨白、訪談、歷史片段與導演個人的觀察，以朦朧沉鬱的影像氛圍，細密捕捉了足立正生言談背後的姿態、理念、矛盾與自我掙扎，並穿插足立正生的作品《鎖陰》、《幽閉者》、《赤軍：PFLP世界戰爭宣言》等片段，編織出這位自詡為永遠的左派影人的世界觀與創作心路歷程。當年熱血革命的憤怒青年，如今洗盡鉛華、歷盡滄桑，但對於人生、革命與電影，卻依舊無法自拔地反覆思索，在藝術與政治之間、在主流體系與創作自我之間，對足立正生而言，對美的信念強化了我們，電影人應如同革命策動者，永遠朝理想前進。《也許是因為美的決心》片名，來自於足立正生2008年導演的作品《幽閉者》中的台詞：「因為那樣的美，我們的決心也許可以更強大，所有奮鬥的、前進的，都是那樣寧靜而美麗的風景。」

這是一個電影人對另一位創作者的見證，自由的、不帶一絲沈重的姿態，見證他對美學、道德、政治的參與介入，以及他與他自己、和這個世界的對抗與掙扎。
This documentary pay homage to known and unknown filmmaker Masao Adachi, who took part, with rifles, cameras or both, in social struggles for freedom during the 20th and the 21th century, as well as to those who nowadays keep on fighting against dictatorial systems. Daring and often heroic authors, portraying stances of pertinence and courage, where cinema meets collective history, these filmmakers struggling for liberation and often following a romantic destiny, frequently faced censorship, prison, and death, and nowadays sink into oblivion.

菲利普貢迪厄 Philippe Grandrieux ―
1954年生於法國聖埃蒂安。畢業於比利時國立電影學院，作品風格實驗多變，創作領域涵蓋劇情片、實驗片、錄像及裝置藝術等。目前任教於巴黎國家高等視聽創作學院以及巴黎國家高等美術學院，以及劍橋、哈佛大學視覺及環境研究系的客座講師。2008年的作品《湖》曾於液態影展中放映，備受好評，《白色癲癇》、《也許是因為美的決心》為其近年新作。
Was born in Saint-Étienne in France. His work covers
several areas of kinetic visual arts: feature film,
experimental television, video art, documentary and
museum and gallery installation. Grandrieux's first two
full-feature films, "Sombre" and "A New Life" which won
an award at the Locarno Film Festiva. Grandrieux's work
offers the viewer intense sensorial experiences and a
deep psychological involvement, expressing a world of
energies, embedded in and manifesting the most powerful
of sensations and effects.
