老作家向賣金魚的小販（永瀨正敏 飾）買了一隻紅色金魚，為之取名「小紅」。小紅（二階堂富美 飾）因為沉迷於老作家筆下的戀愛故事，於是變身為人類的模樣，成為老作家的情婦。這下可引來老作家多年前的情婦（真木陽子 飾），現在已經成為“幽靈”的女人醋勁大發，上演一場複雜的三角戀。惱人的夏日夜晚，剪不斷，理還亂，偏偏死去的大文豪芥川龍之介（高良健吾 飾）也來亂入，這是一場最熱鬧的仲夏夜之夢！

Akago (Fumi Nikaido) is a red goldfish able to change into a girl. She possesses a pure and sensuous side. She lives with an old male writer (Ren Osugi) whom she calls “Ojisama.”
One day, the ghost of Yuriko Tamura (Yoko Maki) appears. She is a woman the writer knew in the past.
