這是一個誌念曾經逝去，而又重生的自我生命底的慰靈碑。
2009年八月八日台灣莫拉克風災中，受災最慘重的高雄小林村462位居民罹難，造成無數家庭破滅、倖存村民人生瞬間歸零。
本片主角翁瑞琪是當天現場餘生的少數村民中，親眼目睹災難倖存者之一。六年時間過去了，對翁瑞琪來說曾經面對親人死亡，埋在心底深層的呢喃是什麼？六年來他又是如何面對生命底，曾經經歷過的一段夢魘？活著，代表是此後將在生命旅途底踽踽前行？還是駝負著先人們尚未完成的任務？對餘生者來說，我們都是被逝者留下的人。只是此後又要如何接續人生道路，讓逝者安息、生者無憾地在生命途上，緩緩前進呢？

On the midnight of August 8, 2009, Typhoon Morakot swept over Taiwan and wrought widespread catastrophic damage. It was the deadliest storm to hit the island in recorded history, with the vast majority of deaths occurring in Xiaolin Village. The heavy rainfall triggered a landslide and 462 lives were lost as the village was buried overnight.
What then, does living means to a survivor left behind? Seven years has passed and Weng Rui Qi remains devastated by the incident. As the sole survivor of a once-large family, he watched helplessly as the landslide claimed the lives of his loved ones in an instant.
The film looks at the choices Weng has to make as he comes to terms with the tragedy and accompanies him on his journey as he seeks solace and closure in a world unhinged. With Director Chen Wen-pin adopting a quiet and reflective storytelling style to craft an intimate observational piece, “From Now On” is a vigil to remember the lives lost in Morakot and to honor the courage of those affected by the disaster and their will to survive.
