喬納斯，一個已過不惑之年的巴黎男子，始終放不下前女友莉雅。當他一再敲門表白他的感情時， 莉雅依然狠狠地拒絕了他。傷心的喬納斯最終來到了樓下的咖啡館沈澱心情，怎知靈感突然來襲，迴避掉他那天應該做的公私事，喬納斯靜心坐下來給莉雅寫了一封長長的情書，下定決心這是最後一次試圖讓她回來。而這一封信，卻意外地變成了對他生活狀態的生動沉思，喬納斯不得不面對他過去的關係、他不確定的未來，最重要的是，直視他自己的內心，才能真正了解自己的感情……。

Jonas, a 40 something Parisian, is still desperately in love with his ex-girlfriend Lea. When he knocks on her door to confess his feelings and she turns him down, he ends up at the cafe downstairs.Inspiration strikes and he sits down to write her a long love letter, dodging everything he was supposed to do that day. What begins as a last attempt to get her back surprisingly turns into a vivid musing on the state of his life.Over the course of a day, helped by a wisecracking bartender and an array of patrons from the neighborhood, Jonas has to face his past relationships, his uncertain future and, most of all, himself.
